This photograph, “Congaree Loblolly Pines,” is my personal homage to the cathedral-like majesty of Congaree National Park. Standing at the base of these incredible Loblolly Pines, looking straight up into their immense heights, truly makes you feel the grandeur of nature. Converting this image to black and white was a deliberate choice to strip away distractions and focus purely on the textures of the bark, the reach of the trees, and the dramatic interplay of light and shadow as the sun broke through the canopy. It’s a powerful and minimalist representation of one of America’s unique old-growth forests, a piece that invites contemplation and awe.
