“Roseate Angel” is an image I’ve wanted to capture for years. Photographing a Roseate Spoonbill with its wings fully extended from behind—perfectly symmetrical and glowing in the sun—is much harder than it looks. On a recent trip, the timing finally came together. The morning sun was bright and challenging to work around, but in the end it became part of the composition, creating a soft halo that enhances the delicate pinks of the feathers.
