Story Behind the Photos – Sabattus Pond

SABATTUS POND

Sabattus, Maine – 2018

I enjoy experimenting with long exposure photography. This image was taken while I was having a discussion with another photographer as we watched the sun set on this quiet Maine lake.  The photographer had not done any long exposures before.  I was explaining how to create minute long exposures and that the scene in front of us would make a great shot. I set up my camera, using a rock on the shoreline as my tripod, and took a single three-minute shot.  This image is the result.

Equipment used: Pentax K1 DSLR, Pentax HD D FA* 70-200mm lens, and a 10-stop neutral density filter
