Rising nearly 6200′, Mitre Peak is an intrusive mass exposed by erosion. The peak stands much taller than it’s surroundings because it is harder than the rock which has eroded around it. Mitre Peak got is named as such due to it’s resemblance to the peaked hat worn by a bishop. At the base of the peak rests the Girl Scout’s Camp Mitre. The camp has been hosting Girl Scouts since the 1940’s.
