Moxie Falls first greeted me in late spring, though my visit was short-lived. My visit was less about waterfalls and more about black flies. Within seconds of stepping out of the car in late spring, I was under siege—hundreds of them biting with a vengeance. Retreat seemed the only option. When I came back a few months later, the black flies had vanished, the leaves had caught fire with color, and I couldn’t help but laugh—sometimes procrastination pays off.
