Setting out in the evening to take photos of the full moon rising. I positioned myself near a Cabbage Palm to capture the rising full-moon above. Standing in the back of my pickup truck, taking photos of the rising moon, I began glancing behind myself at another unfolding scene. It was at this point I heard my ‘co-pilot’ say, “It looks like a better shot behind you”.
The scene which grabbed both of us, was a line of Slash Pines against a cobalt blue sky, a pinkish hue from the setting sun and Naples light dome, with clear stars dancing above.
I really liked the grass in the foreground and wanted to make sure it was lighted in the photo. So, I used a flashlight to light up the grass foreground during exposure. It took me four trips back to the scene to capture exactly what I wanted. Finally, conditions were perfect and allowed me this final result.
