The Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute introduced me to the beauty of West Texas. I had the opportunity to return to the nature center late summer 2019. With an everchanging light, Mitre Peak caught my eye in the background. The native plants framed the iconic peak as the afternoon sun lit the scene from behind my shoulder.
