“Wading into Dusk” captures a truly unexpected and breathtaking moment from Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. As my day of photographing wildlife drew to a close and I was preparing to leave the refuge, this serene scene unfolded before my lens. A lone heron gracefully waded into the calm waters, silhouetted against a sky painted with the magnificent hues of twilight. It was a perfect, spontaneous end to a day in nature, a gentle reminder that some of the most beautiful moments are often unplanned.

This photograph is a personal favorite, a testament to the magic that can emerge when you’re patient and open to the wonders of the natural world.
