I can’t tell you why this single stone caught my eye on this vast beach, but it did. This picture was taken on the Gulf of Mexico in Nokomis Beach, Florida. We went to the Nokomis sunset drum & dance circle and walked the beach at sunset. This stone caught my eye and I had to photograph it with the setting sun and layered colored sky in the background. Staring at the scene through my camera, these lyrics played in my brain; ‘Standing in the ocean with the sun burning low in the west, like a fire in the cavernous darkness at the heart of the beast…..
